EBC and IUU: A Key Partnership for Mongolia’s Financial Development
EBC Financial Group’s commitment to the financial development of Mongolia is taking a significant leap forward through our partnership with the International University of Ulaanbaatar (IUU). On 29 April 2025, during the university’s Career Promotion Day, we engaged directly with over 160 students who represent the future of Mongolia’s financial sector. This initiative underscores our belief in the potential of Mongolia's youth, with 65% of the population under the age of 35, and positions EBC as a key enabler in their growth.
EBC’s Hands-On Approach to Talent Development
Unlike traditional sponsorship or passive involvement, our participation in the Career Promotion Day at IUU was about hands-on engagement. Through a series of events, including financial lectures, career development forums, and virtual trading challenges, we provided a direct window into the rapidly evolving world of global finance.
Over 160 students from IUU’s Economics and Business faculties attended, each eager to connect with the wider world of finance. The event’s outcome was clear: a remarkable response from students, with over 160 submitting applications for internships and potential career paths with EBC. Their energy and drive were palpable, showing that Mongolia’s next generation is not just ready to enter the financial world; they’re ready to take it on globally.
A Step Towards Long-Term Collaboration
What sets this event apart was the formal agreement signed between EBC and IUU. The Joint Cooperation Agreement is more than a symbolic gesture; it establishes a clear framework for how both institutions will contribute to the development of Mongolia’s financial talent.
Key components of this agreement include:
Annual Internship Opportunities: We will provide up to 10 internship positions every year for IUU students, with exceptional candidates having the chance to work at our international offices.
Comprehensive Financial Education: Monthly financial lectures, career advice sessions, and virtual trading competitions will serve as an ongoing educational resource, connecting theory with real-world application.
Direct Career Pathways: IUU graduates will be given priority in our recruitment processes, along with access to mentorship programs and research opportunities focused on Mongolia’s economic landscape.
Why This Partnership Matters
For us, this partnership is about more than just opening doors for Mongolian students; it’s a strategic investment in the future of global finance. As Mrs. Tamir Baatar, our COO, said,
“This partnership is more than a milestone for EBC in Mongolia, it's a testament to our belief that empowering youth with knowledge and opportunity strengthens entire economies,” said Mrs. Baatar. “By equipping students with real-world skills, we're investing in the resilience and innovation of the financial sector.”
She further shared,
“We are proud to be part of an initiative that not only opens doors for young Mongolian talent but also builds enduring ties between industry and academia. EBC's vision is rooted in empowering the next generation with both knowledge and opportunity.”
A Vision That Bridges Education and Market Needs
This collaboration is a perfect example of our commitment to linking academic learning with market realities. Our partnership with IUU mirrors our long-term involvement with institutions such as the University of Oxford’s Department of Economics, where we co-host the “What Economists Really Do (WERD)” series. The series addresses important global economic topics, like climate resilience, and reflects our dedication to providing students with the insights they need to address global challenges.
Looking to the future, we will continue to build on these partnerships, expanding our reach and impact. Whether in Mongolia or across the world, we remain steadfast in our mission to provide students with a blend of global opportunities and local expertise, equipping them for success in an ever-changing financial landscape.
